
The APC gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, is coasting to victory as results of the gubernatorial elections held yesterday, 9th of March, emerge. It has also been confirmed that the incumbent Deputy Governor and running mate to the PDP candidate and current governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo along with other key Commissioners and starlwarts of the PDP, have lost in their respective Polling Units.
This is indication of a clear rejection of the party, the PDP by voters in Akwa Ibom State, as the APC is on the way to claiming victory in the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
At the polling unit of the incumbent deputy governor, who is also Udom's running mate, the PDP received 154 votes in the gubernatorial election, to the APC's 371. For the state house of Assembly election, the APC again defeated the PDP by 399 to 77 votes.
From other results so far sorted in the various collation points across Akwa Ibom State, a massive rally is being witnessed as the APC is in a very clear lead, and there is now a very clear indication that, Nsima Ekere of the APC will be returned as Governor-Elect of the state, and come 29th of May, 2019, he will be succeeding Udom as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
